While I’ve already written on why you should invest in a stationer for custom invitation design, I thought I’d explain more about the process of ordering bespoke invitations with my studio and the steps along the way. Working with a custom design studio is a unique experience built on personal service and exceptional skills you would be hard-pressed to find elsewhere.

The first step is to fill out my  inquiry form. This form will ask you basic information about your stationery needs like quantity, mailing date and any special elements you want as part of your one-of-a-kind suite. The form also has a spot for you to upload links to design inspiration, this is where your Pinterest board comes to life! When I receive your inquiry form, I will set up a consultation with you (either in-person or via video chat) so we can discuss your vision and find the perfect elements for your suite. I hand select vendors in laser etching, wood engraving, letterpressing and more to give each client the ultimate experience in quality and professionalism.

Once we’ve met and I have found the perfect elements of your custom invitation request, I will create a proposal with packages built from the pieces you select. These 2-3 packages provide different options for you to choose from for your perfect invitation suite. All of my packages are one-of-a-kind and built specifically for each client, typically taking about a week to complete after we meet.

Pick your preferred package and secure your contract with a signature and retainer. Our studio requires a 50% retainer to secure our availability for your date. You are officially a revelry + heart bride (happy dance!).  Each client receives a password-protected client portal to reference all of their documentation at any time during the process. Here, you will be able to reference your contract, invoice, proposal, mood board, details questionnaire and more.

After you select a package, we dive into the creative process! This is probably my favorite part, as I get to learn about you and your future spouse. Your love story, what you like to do together, and what makes your relationship unique. I find out your style and what you envision for your wedding through my wedding invitation detail questionnaire that asks you all sorts of fun and intimate questions like “if your wedding was a person, what would they wear?” and “What are some of your favorite memories as a couple?”

Next is where my passion for stationery marries my refined design skills. I begin creating design proofs rooted in your inspiration, your style, and your relationship. revelry + heart brides receive 3 unique design proofs to begin their custom design. Each client has 3 complimentary rounds of edits to edit to their liking. The best part about custom invitation design is that nothing is off-limits in editing. We are able to edit fonts, colors, elements and wording to your heart’s content. I am your personal designer throughout the process, creating and modifying the design until it is perfect in every detail.

When we have finished your design, I will ask for a final approval on your custom invitations. This is where it’s critical that you review all wording, names and design to ensure spellings are correct and everything is perfect. I usually tell my brides to have 2-4 of their family/friends take a look at it with fresh eyes to catch anything we may have missed.

After we have confirmed the artwork, I ready for print and send for hard proofs. I will build a complete suite and mail it to your home. This allows you to experience opening your invitation just as a guest would, and most likely with more anticipation!

Take photos, show your neighbor, and show your neighbor’s dog! You now see how the process of having a relationship with a personal stationer has paid off. I will check in with you at this point and make sure everything is absolutely perfect. If so, you will fulfill the balance on your invoice, and I will begin assembling the remainder of your bespoke invitations to package and ship to you.

I’ve built revelry + heart on personal relationship with my clients. I strive to make the process stress-free, comfortable, and fun. All of my invitation suites come fully-assembled and shipped via FedEx or UPS with insurance and signature confirmation. I have had clients start their design over a year from their wedding as well as with only 6 weeks until their RSVP date. If you have any lingering questions about what to expect, I am just an email away! I love to talk pretty paper and would be happy to connect with you.
